UPDATE : The Godzilla Head has now been officially unveiled on April 09, 2015. YOU CAN GO SEE IT ONLY AFTER APRIL 17 THOUGH.
ORIGINAL STORY : A few months back we reported on the Hotel Gracery a themed hotel with magnificent view of the Godzilla figure, an awesome 39 feet (12 meters) Godzilla head to be erected on top of new movie complex Toho Cinemas Shinjuku. The head has now been placed at its planned location and we went to take a look at the development. Cna you spot the Godzilla on top of the building for TOHO Cinemas?
Lets take a closer look and yeah it was there in all its gruesome look looking down on the passersby of the busy Shinjuku street. Its really awesome in the size and although we could not go up and see the complete figure the view from down leaves no doubt that this will be one more attraction in the city of Tokyo very soon for foreigner tourists to visit to.
Many office goers and passers by were seen snapping pictures of the Godzilla. The Godzilla is less prominent from near the building and we suggest you stand at a distance to see the whole figure. Closer you get, you get to see less of the face and more of the jaw and the teeth lining of the figure.
If you stand just below the building you will see the claws all right! and that just looks too cute than frightening. We look forward tot he attraction opening for public in April and go up to watch the full Godzilla head figure.
Quite a couple of stores are also coming up in the same building, notably the wildly popular Krispy Kreme Donuts place in the same building. Prepare for lines to get your favorite donut here as you see in the South Exit side of Shinjuku Station. Gets too crowded.
The TOHO cinemas itself is undergoing renovation and the Hotel building above it is a the Hotel Gracery from where you can either take a Godzilla immersion themed room or a room with a Godzilla view only.
The neighborhood also has, the wildly popular with foreigner travelers, ROBOT RESTAURANT one of the top place to visit in Shinjuku. We have never been there ourselves with human like figures serving drinks and food, but is supposedly on a must see list for many tourists coming to Japan from overseas.
