Osaki, I shifted jobs to Adobe Japan in 2013 and the Osaki Gate City is my place of work. The backside of the Osaki Gate City is the Meguro River and the trees lining the same bloom in late March every year. Last year was the first time to experience the Meguro River Cherry blossoms and following is a photo story during lunch time and some snaps late evening on the way home.
My company known for creative products, so I got some friends to be creative and there we go with the first shot near the office enjoying cherry blossoms
Next up we walked a few meters away from the office building to take the full expanse of the Meguro River, the trees and the Gate City Osaki in the background. The trees were beautiful in full blossom on a sunny day.
We decided to also take the same shot in the evening and the contrast at the blue hour is as below
Continuing with the night time Sakura blossom part, the illumination is significant in the evenings to enjoy the yo-zakura, night blossoms in the neighbourhood. The office building with many lights on, overtime-lights just provide the additional illumination for the trees :). Enjoy the night sakura at the expense of the office workers 🙂
The major attraction of the Sakura on the Meguro river is that you can take a boat ride through the winding canal and enjoy the blossoms sitting in a boat. Caught some light trails of a boat passing by through the canal with local Japanese enjoying the blossoms, singing and drinking on the boat.
The streets on the front side of the office towards the JR Osaki Station facing the Sony Office Building also have streets lined up with the blossoms and many people headed back home, were seen snapping the flowing blossoms which are significant since they only last for a few days of March and April (7-8 days). Sakura is beautiful due to the visual appeal but also the fleeting nature of the blossom.
Some final snaps of the Cherry blossoms, OL(Office Ladies) taking snaps of the flowers on way back to the office from a afternoon lunch
Sumida River and other rivers are famous spots, but if you want to enjoy the quietness of the hanami (flower watching), Gate City Osaki might just be the offbeat location right in the city center waiting to be explored.
