Pepsi SAKURA : Tastes like medicine, a Sakura flavoured cola drink…

It’s the second week in the month of March. The cherry blossoms are a few days away, but the marketing machines of companies are already working full speed and many brands are getting the “sakura” treatment. Alcohol brands like Suntory, Kirin and Asahi already have their sakura flavours out… In the discount store around Kasai, I was just going around shopping and found that not only the alcohol types but even the regular cola is getting the “SAKURA” treatment.
SAKURA - Pepsi ColaIn the corner the Pepsi SAKURA with a distinctively pink color liquid in bottles was on sale at a paltry 74 Japanese yen. I am least inclined to fall for such marketing gimmick, but just for fun, decided to try out Pepsi Sakura.
SAKURA - Pepsi ColaReturned back home and thought to try out the drink right away. The drink has a nice light pink color like the cherry blossoms. SAKURA - Pepsi ColaThe bottom of the bottle is also five petal shape of the sakura flowers. So like any Japanese product, enough thought has been given to the detail, but the point is to understand how it tastes…
SAKURA - Pepsi ColaSo here is the funny part, my favourite glass back home is the Coca Cola one, so here is the Sakura Pepsi in Coca Cola glass.. Now for trying this rather sweet looking drink which is supposedly a cola…SAKURA - Pepsi ColaMy reaction : I was transported to my childhood, where I remember this strong cough syrup like taste which I used to hate. I saw some reviews online by other bloggers and seems many like it, but honestly for me it is nothing but medicine like taste. The taste is like, you know, well, YUCK. SORRY PEPSI, just because it is cherry blossoms time and the drink color is pink, many may fall for this gimmick, but I regret buying one of these.abcd
