Christmas illumination at the Aka Renga Souko (Red Brick Warehouse) in Yokohama

When I first visited London, I developed a liking for the red brick constructions illuminated at the the twilight time. The reddish brown and yellow tinge contrasted with a blue sky at sunset looked superb in Piccadilly Circus there and thereafter I have been a huge fan of brick architecture. I tried such photography in Mumbai my hometown too with some satisfying results. So in Japan where do I go… Well Tokyo Station Building could be one, but there is one more location in Yokohama which is my favourite, the Aka Renga Souko or the Red Brick Warehouse.Christmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaNovember 28, the christmas illumination event started at the Aka Renga Souko and I thought to go on a photoshoot at the location. The festive season and the beautiful architecture is a smashing combination….Christmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaBeautiful Christmas tree welcomes visitors with stalls lined on both sides selling various food items and other stuff. Festival time means family time and if you visit this location you will feel a bit alone and lost  with all the people who come with their near and dear ones having a wonderful time. So the your spouse, your kids or friends and have a warm timeChristmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaBeautiful christmas decorations with this collection of teddy bears caught my attention. Spent some time drinking hot coffee here.  Aka Renga Soko is located only minutes away from the Landmark Tower in the Minatomirai area. Having Yokohama Bay Bridge on one side and the Landmark Tower on the other, this area is a great place to spend an evening Christmas or no Christmas…Christmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaA wide angle shot of the illumination with the two sides of the Aka Renga Soko. Other than Christmas, Munich’s world famous beer festival “Oktoberfest” is also held here at Akarenga Soko.Christmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaI love this location with some awesome waterfront views (See the Yokohama Bay Bridge in the left corner). The warehouse is now a shopping center and you can buy a lot of apparel at this location. Also good Italian restaurant on 1F of the warehouse.Christmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaThe crowds were thin on the weekday, but be prepared for a bit more crowded experience closer to Christmas and on weekend.Christmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaChristmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaChristmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaTried to contrast the warehouse lightup in closeup with the Landmark Tower in distance. The illumination is not limited to christmas and the warm sodium lamps light up the warehouse throughout the year.Christmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaPlan to spend around 3-4 hours here with good shopping experience inside the warehouse. Its a pricey mall though. But yeah its Christmas time yeah? Go shopping.

Additionally the warehouse has an art gallery too, so might want to drop by there too.Christmas at Aka Renga Souka Red Brick House at YokohamaWalking back to the Yokohama Station, caught one final shot of the evening of the Landmark Tower and the ferris wheel in the distance. Yokohama never ceases to mesmerise with its mystic views…. Reminds me of the views the port city of Kobe also is famous for…… Ahhhhh I wanna go Kobe.
